Khumalo Mules (Purple)

About a year ago now, we began developing outdoor shoes, inspired by the origins of the brand: Action Sports. We began a conversation with Vibram, which was quite fruitful. We got a chance to travel to the Vibram Connect Lab in Los Angeles, and had a chance to develop some really exciting footwear together. Considering we had never developed a mule, this process felt organic and serendipitous. We have become known for comfortable footwear, expertly made, with otherworldly quality. Vibram would be a great sole that enhances the durability and usefulness of each shoe.

The name Khumalo refers to an African clan, originating in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. Our founder is Ndebele, and a descendent of one of the generals of Mzilikazi: The King of the Ndebele. Mzilikazi was hailed as the greatest military mind the world had ever seen. In his autobiography, David Livingston considered Mzilikazi the second most impressive leader he encountered on the African continent. 

Here at The Rad Black Kids, we find naming products after great leaders, people, places in Zimbabwe, and generally our part of the world to be a great use of the platform of selling great products, but hoping you are curious enough to learn more about what is typically not put in Western curriculums.
